OSHA Construction Roundtable: Electrical Safety for the Construction Industry

Apr

2019
Tue 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM

OSHA regulations related to construction date back 40 plus years. Subpart K was originally promulgated in 1986 and amended in 1996. For construction requiring installation of medium voltage equipment (utility-like work), Subpart V will be applicable. This was updated in April 2014. We will discuss electrical hazards including shock and arc flash hazards, consider the risk of each, and mitigation practices to avoid injury including LOTO and use of insulating gloves, material, and tools. Equipment requirements are often overlooked so we will discuss listed and labeled equipment related to the hazard level determined in our initial hazard assessment. NFPA 70E (Referenced by OSHA) will also be discussed as the ultimate guide for Electrical Safety in the Workplace.
